G SPOT FOOD TRUCK checks all the boxes for us with its healthy tasty food and some serious attention to the details from the truck’s design to the ingredients.
Situated on busy Maraval Road, this stationary food truck is already a favorite breakfast and lunch spot in Newtown. Breakfast here amounts to Omelettes, Pancakes and Crepes with all manner of fillings — scrambled eggs, grilled chicken, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, avocado, grilled mushrooms, spinach and roasted red peppers. Oatmeal topped with fresh fruit and/or coconut palm sugar is also available for breakfast.
G SPOT’s lunch menu offers up its wholesome Crepes with grilled salmon (Atlantic), grilled chicken (Milano), local handmade boerewors from Del Mano (Springbok) or spinach & goat cheese (Monaco). Grain Bowls, Mashables (provisions are the base), and Salads with a sense of place like the Paramin and San Souci are also on the menu. Add-ons in the form of proteins, veggies, sauces, toppings, etc.are available for the breakfast and lunch options.
Perfectly portioned, this is not meant to just be “fill your belly” food as we’ve heard some lament. G SPOT offers high-quality food with complex carbohydrates as the base for most dishes, and everything right down to the dressings is made from scratch. We especially like that local ingredients such as mango, avocado, sweet potato, dasheen, chado beni, tamarind and local honey are used.
For those looking to limit their gluten intake or for gluten-free options, nearly everything on the menu can work including the Grain Bowls (wild rice/brown rice combo), Mashes (sweet potato or dasheen) and gluten-free Crepes. Vegetarian options also are available.
We’ve long felt that Trinidad desperately needs dining establishments that are healthy, fast-casual and relatively inexpensive. Thankfully, G SPOT FOOD TRUCK has filled the void with this well-executed food concept.
