Tuesday, October 1st, WORLD COCOA & CHOCOLATE DAY (TRINIDAD) – UWI’s Cocoa Research Centre hosts its annual World Cocoa &  Chocolate Festival “to highlight the long history of cocoa in Trinidad & Tobago, outline the role that cocoa can play in the economic diversification efforts of this country and garner support towards creating a new cocoa industry based on the pillars of sustainability and value creation.” PICTURES FROM THE FESTIVAL ARE HERE (link).

Saturdays in October (starting October 5th) THAI SOUP COOKING CLASS at New Earth Organics Cafe (Woodbrook, Trinidad).  Message from Robert Goderre, “For the next few Saturdays I am offering anyone the opportunity of coming in to make their own Thai Soup with my guidance. The two most popular Thai soups are Tom Yum Goong (hot and sour) and Tom Kah Gai (Tofu (to replace the chicken) in coconut milk). Cost is $100.00/person and includes all ingredients and recipe. We use ready made cupcakes. 1 1/2 hours of creativity and using their own imagination. Fondant, frosting, aprons, cutters and sprinkles provided. Water or juice available for kids and parents will be given coffee or tea. Sunday, October 13, TOBAGO’S 2013 BLUE FOOD FESTIVAL (Bloody Bay, Tobago). “The Blue Food Festival provides a unique twist on the traditional culinary event with a focus on the commonly used ground provision, dasheen.  Now in its 15th year, the festival continues to intrigue and attract many foreigners interested in sampling the innovative entrees, inventive appetizers, creative desserts and robust liqueurs on sale.  Along with delectable dasheen cuisine, the event will feature live entertainment and the unique crayfish competition in the nearby Bloody Bay Main River.”  Free Admission.

Wednesday, October 16th and Thursday, October 17th, World Food Day (TOBAGO) at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.  Tobago’s annual World Food Day exhibition is back on October 16th and 17th with villages island-wide displaying prized produce alongside dishes made from local staple foods like dasheen and cassava.  Live stock, poultry and fish products are also on display.  Prepared food, fruits, vegetables and plants are available for purchase and live entertainers perform on both evenings of the two-day exhibition.

Saturday, October 19, 2pm-9pm, CHEF INTERCOL: Hidden Chefs at Queens Park Oval (Port of Spain, Trinidad). The ultimate school cook off.  Support your school and look out for prizes and giveaways.
