THE CANVAS BISTRO & BAR (St. James, Trinidad)

The Canvas Restaurant St. James Trinidad

The Canvas (Trinidad)

An all-day breakfast is what drew us to THE CANVAS BISTRO & BAR.

Sleek and brightened up by a large storefront window, THE CANVAS feels like an upscale version of a diner.  And like a good diner, the menu offers a variety of solid breakfast options with everything from pancakes and waffles to buljol & bake.

On our visit we enjoyed the Crisp Waffles topped with fresh fruit, Buljol & Bake, a side of scrambled eggs, and a cappuccino.  Link to our pictures from THE CANVAS.

Lunch at the THE CANVAS means soups, salads, pastas and specialty sandwiches like the Roast Bell Pepper w/Goat Cheese & Caramelized Onions, which we’re looking forward to trying.  The soup menu also looks fantastic – Pumpkin, Fish Broth, Beef & Broccoli Soup and more.

  1. Ambiance was nice at The Canvas. Friendly staff. Menu was also good. We had blue berry bagels with chicken salad, french toasts, omelets with French vanilla and hot chocolate drinks. Today was rainy so being in a cozy place for breakfast was delightful. My company and I were overall pleased with everything. Oh one bad thing – the male washroom had a bad scent with no tissues and no liquid soap. So that needs to be dealt with promptly. Not inviting at all. Ladies washroom was clean though with tissues and soap.

  3. Greetings;
    My wife and I visited this establishment about four times to date. We dined as well as utilized the take away option. I read the opinions and think I may have been in an alternate universe for my four visits! I had salad (cobb), soup and the BLT burger so far. Everything tasted excellent and in my opinion can be an easy alternative to dining at Trotters or Zanzibar. The serving times were also comparable. Kudos Canvas!

    • Hi Jason

  4. I had a mother’s day buffet here. Customer service was very bad. The two waitresses were not helpful and seemed like they didn’t know where anything was or how to do anything. Continually had to get up and ask for basic things like cutlery, a glass of water, salt and pepper etc. No one came to ask me if I needed anything. All of the flood was cold. The French toast was burnt and the juice was watery orchard party mix. Absolutely Horrible for a $195 price tag

    • Hi Mr O’Brien We are sorry you feel this way We hope one day We can make it up to you !!! Yours sincerely
      Cressida Amar

  5. Customer Service is terrible. I had to wait 20 minutes for cold eggs and raw bacon. The server had the nerve to asked to warm up my dish rather than to offer to make fresh dish. The excuse given, they are under -staff. My waffles were not cooked evenly but half burnt.

    My first experience and last.
