LA CANTINA PIZZERIA (Port of Spain, Trinidad)

La Cantina Trinidad

La Cantina (Port of Spain, Trinidad)

Update (May 2014) – LA CANTINA offers a pizza buffet on Tuesdays (link to more details).

Tucked inside a gorgeous 120 year-old building with loads of architectural charm, sits LA CANTINA PIZZERIA, Trinidad’s newest authentic Italian pizzeria (bringing the count to three!).

LA CANTINA started out bringing awesome pies to pizza lovers in Tobago and opened a Trinidad location in December 2012.  With seating for nearly 100 people – an outdoor patio (perfect for people watching), a large separate bar area (ideal for ‘limin’), and two dining rooms – LA CANTINA has gone big with its Victoria Avenue outlet.

As always, patrons can choose from seafood, meat and vegetarian pizzas, which are large enough to feed two people.  Other LA CANTINA menu items worth checking out include the salads, antipasti, and cheese & meat boards.

  1. Useless reservation system. Their phone number isn’t on their website and when you eventually find the number the options for ‘Operator’ and ‘Reservations’ go immediately to voicemail.

  2. I went a few months ago and had a fabulous time. I tried two different types of pizzas and drank a cocktail. I have no qualms about this place. Just placed reservations to go again tonight. Cheers!

  3. I recently went to La Cantina and although the service was great and the restaurant’s ambience was lovely, my evening was ruined by the quality of the pizza. Imagine my surprise when I ordered two pizzas and when they came the mushrooms were from a can, the spinach was frozen spinach and the seafood was unseasoned. I can only describe the seafood as straight out of a pack of seafood mix from pricesmart placed in scanty amounts on the pizza.

    • Hi Gina, sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your pizzas at La Cantina. Just wanted to let you know that La Cantina made a change last week to their menu to use fresh mushrooms for the pizzas.

  4. The pizza is good but they are scampish with the drinks. I ordered a Coke and it came in a very small glass full of ice. After taking one swig the glass was empty and I asked for a refill. I was charged $14 for this. Also if you order water they don’t ask if you want tap they just bring the $18 Figi water. After VAT and service charge that’s $40 for two sips of Coke and a small bottle of water. La Cantina is determined to get your money however they can.
